Day 12: Who Posts for the Department?

After a seminar in Göttingen, two students, Jonas (A) and Lea (B), stay behind to talk to Professor Köhler (C).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Professor Köhler, have you got a moment? We've got an idea.

    Der Instagram-Account des Instituts liegt ja seit Monaten brach. Den würden wir gern übernehmen.

    The department's Instagram account has been dormant for months. We'd love to take it over.

    Wegen des Datenschutzes habe ich Bedenken, gerade bei Fotos von Studierenden.

    I have concerns because of data protection, especially with photos of students.

    Wir fragen vorher jeden um Erlaubnis, trotz des Aufwands. Versprochen.

    We'll ask everyone's permission first, despite the extra work. Promise.

    Und wir posten jede Woche, sodass mehr Leute zu Ihren Vorträgen kommen.

    And we'll post every week, so that more people come to your talks.

    Na gut, aber jeder Beitrag geht vorher an mich. Innerhalb eines Tages bekommen Sie mein Okay.
