Day 50: The Robot Vacuum Debate
At his flat in Erlangen, Holger (A) is about to order a robot vacuum online when his grown-up daughter (B) sees what he is doing.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

So, noch ein Klick, dann kommt der Saugroboter.
Right, one more click and the robot vacuum's on its way.

Papa, kauf den doch lieber im Geschäft! Da erklärt dir jemand alles.
Dad, why not buy it in a shop instead? Someone there will explain everything to you.

A
Online ist er aber billiger. Und ich kann ihn zurückschicken.
But it's cheaper online. And I can send it back.

B
Und wer erklärt dir die App? Mal wieder ich!
And who's going to explain the app to you? Me, as usual!

Eben. Du bist halt besser als jeder Verkäufer.
Exactly. You're just better than any shop assistant.
