Day 186: Lukewarm Coffee Every Morning

In her kitchen in Leverkusen, Karen (A) tells her grown-up daughter Kaja (B) that her expensive coffee machine only makes lukewarm coffee.

How to study this lesson 3 steps

    Ich brauche eine neue Kaffeemaschine. Die hier macht den Kaffee einfach nicht mehr heiß.

    I need a new coffee machine. This one just doesn't make the coffee hot any more.

    Die ist doch erst zwei Jahre alt. Hast du sie mal richtig sauber gemacht?

    But it's only two years old. Have you ever given it a proper clean?

    Na klar, jede Woche! Außerdem hat sie ja noch Garantie.

    Of course, every week! Besides, it's still under guarantee.

    Bei Kalk hilft die Garantie aber nicht. Guck mal, hier drin ist alles weiß!

    The guarantee won't help with limescale, though. Look, it's all white in here!

  5. A

    Oje. Und wegen des Kalks wird der Kaffee nicht mehr heiß?

    Oh dear. So the coffee doesn't get hot any more because of the limescale?

  6. B

    Genau. Statt einer neuen Maschine brauchst du nur Tabletten aus der Drogerie.

    Exactly. Instead of a new machine, all you need is some descaling tablets from the chemist's.
