   Mr Harms, just imagine: your Sunday rolls no longer hang from the door handle in a soggy bag, they wait in a reusable box.

   In Tüten hängen sie seit drei Generationen, junger Mann, und beschwert hat sich keiner. Hinsichtlich der Reinigung schweigt Ihre Broschüre: Wer spült die Dinger?

   They've been hanging in bags for three generations, young man, and nobody's complained. Your brochure is silent on the matter of cleaning: who washes the things?

   Der Reinigung nehmen wir uns selbst an: Montags holen wir die Boxen ab und spülen sie in Hamburg, nach HACCP-Standard.

   We take care of the cleaning ourselves: on Mondays we collect the boxes and wash them in Hamburg, to HACCP standards.

   So you cart empty plastic crates to Hamburg and back for the purpose of washing them? That's not a circular economy, that's a works outing.

   Wir fahren ohnehin zwölf Bäckereien im Landkreis an. Und das Pfand läuft mittels QR-Code: Kunde scannt, gibt die Box zurück, bekommt fünf Euro gutgeschrieben.

   We call at twelve bakeries in the district anyway. And the deposit works by QR code: customer scans, returns the box, gets five euros credited.

   Meine Sonntagskundschaft ist im Schnitt über siebzig, das bedarf keiner App. Die stellen die Box vor die Tür, wie früher die Milchflaschen.

   My Sunday customers are over seventy on average; that doesn't call for an app. They'll put the box outside the door, like milk bottles in the old days.

   Analogue, then: the deposit goes on your customers' monthly bill, and you pay thirty cents per round trip. Given the price of paper, perfectly competitive.
