   Herr Dr. Kämmerer, meine Krankenkasse hat die Reha abgelehnt. Ich habe den Bescheid dreimal gelesen und verstehe nur Bahnhof.

   Dr Kämmerer, my health insurer has turned down the rehab. I've read the decision three times and it's all Greek to me.

   Zeigen Sie mal. „Nach Aktenlage geprüft, erscheint eine stationäre Maßnahme nicht erforderlich.“ Heißt: Gesehen hat Sie beim Medizinischen Dienst niemand.

   Let's see. 'Having been assessed on the basis of the file, an inpatient measure does not appear necessary.' Meaning: nobody at the Medical Service has actually seen you.

   Und hier: „Die Rehabilitationsbedürftigkeit bedarf einer eingehenderen ärztlichen Begründung.“ Haben Sie zu wenig geschrieben?

   And here: 'The need for rehabilitation requires a more detailed medical justification.' Did you not write enough?

   I've been to physio twelve times and I still can't sit through a ninety-minute lecture. What else am I supposed to exhaust?

   I certainly am. Take this down: 'Issued on the basis of the file and without regard to the patient, the decision is devoid of any medical foundation and requires immediate revocation.'

   „Ohne Ansehen der Patientin“: herrlich gemein, angesehen hat mich ja wirklich keiner. Aber merkt die Sachbearbeiterin nicht, dass Sie sich über sie lustig machen?

   'Without regard to the patient': gloriously mean, since nobody so much as looked at me. But won't the caseworker notice that you're making fun of her?
