   Mama, kannst du mir mal das Formular vorlesen? Die Fahrschule braucht den Antrag fürs begleitete Fahren bis Freitag, und ich verstehe nur Bahnhof.

   Mum, can you read the form out to me? The driving school needs the application for accompanied driving by Friday, and it's all double Dutch to me.

   Man nehme eine Tochter, ein Formular und eine Mutter mit Lesebrille. „Die Begleitperson muss das 30. Lebensjahr vollendet haben und seit mindestens fünf Jahren die Fahrerlaubnis der Klasse B besitzen.“

   Take one daughter, one form and one mother with reading glasses. 'The accompanying person must have reached the age of 30 and have held a category B driving licence for at least five years.'

   Moment: „Die Begleitperson darf im Fahreignungsregister mit nicht mehr als einem Punkt belastet sein.“ Mit genau einem Punkt bin ich also noch im Rennen, wenn auch knapp.

   Eben, seelenruhig. Auf dem Verkehrsübungsplatz hat sie höchstens „Nur Mut, Kind“ gesagt, wohingegen du schon beim Anfahren „Spiegel, Schulterblick, Bremse!“ geschrien hast.

   Exactly, cool as you like. At the practice ground the most she ever said was 'Go on, love', whereas you were already shouting 'Mirror, over the shoulder, brake!' as I pulled away.
