   Mr Engelhardt, the reviews of our peat moss paper are in. Reviewer One is delighted, whereas Reviewer Two, well, read it for yourself.

   In a nutshell: the greenhouse data are interesting, albeit worthless without a field trial over three growing seasons. Three years for a revision: that's not a review, it's a declaration of war.

   Blind, maybe, but not clueless: apart from us, only his lab measures peat moss this way. He recognises the method, especially since he once developed it with me.

    „Gewohnt“ streichen Sie bitte, sofern wir den Schein wahren wollen. Und zitieren Sie ruhig alle vier, die von Hollmann und mir zuerst: Das ärgert ihn mehr als jede Widerrede.

    Please delete 'customarily', if we want to keep up appearances. And by all means cite all four, the one by Hollmann and me first: that'll annoy him more than any rebuttal.
