   Erwischt. Die sollte zum Schuljahresbeginn 2025 fertig sein, jetzt ist von 2027 die Rede, und keiner sagt, warum. Du sitzt doch direkt an der Quelle.

   Guilty. It was meant to be finished for the start of the 2025 school year, now there's talk of 2027, and nobody will say why. You're sitting right at the source.

   I've analysed the building committee's minutes since 2021: seventeen change orders, and from autumn 2024 the shell stood idle for a whole year. That wasn't the rain.

    Then I'll put it another way, purely hypothetically: what would an experienced clerk recommend to a young journalist who's at her wits' end over a building shell with no builders?

    Hypothetisch würde sie sagen, dass eine Baustelle selten wegen des Wetters stillsteht, sondern eher wegen einer Firma, die es plötzlich nicht mehr gibt. Und Insolvenzen macht nicht das Rathaus bekannt, sondern das Amtsgericht.

    Hypothetically, she'd say that a building site rarely stands idle because of the weather, but rather because of a firm that suddenly no longer exists. And insolvencies aren't announced by the town hall, but by the local court.
