Day 101: The Missing Hotel Receipt
In an open-plan office in Nürnberg, Konstantin (A), just back from a trade fair in Vienna, asks his colleague Carolin (B), who knows her way around the forms, for help with his expenses.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Ganz einfach: Man nehme alle Belege, sortiere sie nach Datum und trage sie der Reihe nach ein.
Easy: take all your receipts, sort them by date and enter them one after the other.

Schönes Rezept, nur fehlt eine Zutat. Zu Hause angekommen, habe ich den ganzen Koffer ausgeräumt, aber die Hotelrechnung ist weg.

Weg im Sinne von verloren oder irgendwo zwischen Messeprospekten vergraben? Bei dir ist beides denkbar.
Gone as in lost, or buried somewhere among the trade fair brochures? With you, either is possible.

Dann ruf im Hotel an, die schicken dir eine Kopie per Mail. Die reicht der Buchhaltung völlig.
Then ring the hotel, they'll email you a copy. That's perfectly good enough for accounts.

Und ich hatte mich schon damit abgefunden, die sechshundert Euro selbst zu zahlen. Die Taxiquittungen habe ich immerhin alle.
