Day 73: Visiting a Friend in the Eifel
In a village in the Eifel, Bilal (A) visits his friend Maximilian (B), who left Cologne a year ago and now works from home.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Not a bit. Instead of standing on a packed train, I have my morning coffee looking out at the meadow.

Samstags lasse ich mich vom Bauern gegenüber zum Supermarkt mitnehmen. Und Eier gibt's bei ihm direkt vom Hof.
On Saturdays I get a lift to the supermarket from the farmer across the road. And I get eggs from him, straight from the farm.

Und abends? Vermisst du nicht wenigstens ein Kölsch im Brauhaus?
And in the evenings? Don't you at least miss a Kölsch in the brewery pub?

Manchmal. Aber hier kann ich richtig abschalten, und nachts sieht man die Milchstraße.
