Day 156: Cheese Spätzle Without Cheese
In an old inn in Innsbruck, Manuel (A), a young man who has recently gone vegan, and his girlfriend Kaja (B) order from the owner, Hubert (C).
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.

I'm happy to leave out the cheese for you, but there are eggs in the spätzle. Shall I fish those out as well?

Ach, die Eier! Wenn das zu viel Aufwand wäre, würde ich natürlich etwas anderes nehmen.

Oh, come on, I was only joking. Our cook makes the spätzle without egg too, by adding sparkling water to the dough.
