Day 27 of 40

Day 27: Stretching at the Rest Stop

At a motorway service station, during a break on a long-distance coach to Berlin, Anna (A), a young passenger, is doing stretches when Susanne (B), the woman from the next seat, walks over.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

    Sieht bestimmt komisch aus, oder?

This must look a bit odd, right?

Not at all! After four hours, I'm aching all over too.

  3. A

Man sitzt halt zu viel. Die Übungen helfen meinem Rücken.

We just sit too much. These exercises help my back.

  4. B

Zeigen Sie mir mal eine? Die werde ich auch probieren.

Will you show me one? I'll try it too.

  5. A

Klar, Arme hoch und zur Seite. Sie werden sehen, das tut gut.

Sure, arms up and out to the side. You'll see, it feels good.
