   Herr Lüke, haben Sie sich den Zaun mal angesehen? Die Pfosten sind durchgefault, beim nächsten Sturm liegt er in Ihren Tomaten.

   Mr Lüke, have you had a look at the fence? The posts have rotted through, and the next storm will put it in your tomatoes.

   Habe ich, aber ehrlich gesagt würde ich ihn gar nicht ersetzen. Eine Hainbuchenhecke wäre schöner, und die Vögel hätten was davon.

   I have, but to be honest I wouldn't replace it at all. A hornbeam hedge would look nicer, and the birds would get something out of it.

   Eine Hecke muss man zweimal im Jahr schneiden, wohingegen ein ordentlicher Holzzaun fünfzehn Jahre lang einfach dasteht.

   A hedge has to be cut twice a year, whereas a decent wooden fence just stands there for fifteen years.

   Wenngleich eine Hecke Arbeit macht, kostet sie nur einen Bruchteil. Zwölf Meter Holzzaun, da ist man schnell bei 2.000 Euro.

   Even if a hedge is some work, it costs a fraction of that. Twelve metres of wooden fence, and you're soon looking at 2,000 euros.

   Only tomatoes, and yours at that. Agreed, provided I get to choose the colour: I was thinking of a bold Arminia blue, the colour of the local football club.
