Day 122: A Viewing Like an Interview

How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Of course, I've brought my payslips and my Schufa credit report. I've had a permanent job as an engineer at a medical technology manufacturer for six years.

Don't take it the wrong way, but that question isn't actually allowed. Instead of talking about children, I'd rather hear something about the heating.

Ähm, natürlich. Es ist eine Gasetagenheizung von 2009, tadellos gewartet, und die Nebenkosten ohne Heizung liegen bei 190 Euro im Monat.
Er, of course. It's a gas boiler for the flat from 2009, perfectly maintained, and the service charges come to 190 euros a month, not counting heating.

Dürfte ich dann den Energieausweis sehen? Den müssen Sie ja spätestens bei der Besichtigung vorlegen, ohne dass man danach fragen muss.
Could I see the energy performance certificate, then? You're required to show it at the viewing at the latest, without anyone having to ask for it.

Der Ausweis liegt im Auto, ich hole ihn sofort. Ehrlich gesagt hat mich noch keine Bewerberin so gründlich ausgefragt, ohne dabei unhöflich zu werden.
The certificate's in the car, I'll fetch it right away. To be honest, no applicant has ever grilled me so thoroughly without being rude about it.
