Day 264: Pasta That Stuck to the Pot

In the shared kitchen of a student hall in Ilmenau, Lenny (A), a first-year student, calls over Rasmus (B), an older student, to look at his pasta.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native German, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Let me see. Oh, the pot's much too small.

    Wirklich? Braucht man denn so viel Wasser?

    Really? Do you need that much water?

    Ja, viel Wasser und etwas Salz. Und man muss ab und zu rühren.

    Yes, lots of water and a bit of salt. And you have to stir it now and then.
