Day 114: Binding the Harvest Crown
In a village hall near Görlitz, two old friends, Gerda (A) and Christa (B), are binding the harvest crown for the Erntedankfest, the harvest festival.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a German word to see what it means.

Who on earth will do it when we can't any more? The young ones haven't got time for it.

Jannik? He only ever turns up when there's cake afterwards.

Eben. Deshalb wird der Kuchen dieses Jahr erst angeschnitten, wenn die Krone fertig ist.
Exactly. That's why this year the cake won't be cut until the crown is finished.
